OVERVIEW
Globalization is defined as the “unity in economic, political and cultural aspects” (Shokina & Nishchev, 2009). This means that globalization aims to unite nations and remove borders between them. In order to facilitate or achieve this “unity”, the definition suggests that communication performs a significant role in the process of globalization. With the aid of technology, it has made communicating with people from the other side of the globe possible. However, global communication poses a challenging task since there can be “misunderstandings due to ethical; and cultural differences” (Matthews & Thakkar, 2012). It also has changed the way how people communicate with each other. Hence, there is a need to develop effective communication skills both in local and global settings.
